What should I do to get my car ready for a road trip this summer?
Summer is upon us and this year a road trip seems like a safe way to get out and have some fun. Many of us want to explore beautiful BC this summer but before you go you should make sure your vehicle is ready. Here is a list of things to check before you hit the road:
Tires
- Check your tire pressure—the recommended tire pressure is printed on the inside of the driver’s door
- Make sure your tire treads are in good condition and not worn out
Fluids
- Take your car in for a check up and make sure all fluids are topped up or fresh for your journey—engine oil, transmission oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid, and power steering fluid
Brakes
- Have you had them checked lately? Before a long trip, make sure you’ve had your pads and rotors checked to ensure you are able to stop properly.
Air Conditioning
- Make sure your A/C blows cold—if it doesn’t, it might need a recharge.
Lights
- Have a walk around your car and make sure headlights and signal lights are working properly
Plan Ahead
- Lastly, make a plan for your trip and make sure you have a place to rest for the night—don’t risk falling asleep at the wheel!
- Remember to let someone know where you’re going, your route and when to expect you back
Have Fun
- In the time of COVID, it’s important to remember to have fun with family, be kind to strangers and create some great memories
