5 warning signs of a tired battery
5 Things that might indicate your Toyota needs a new battery
1. Your engine turns over but it won’t start
90% of the time this is a tired battery. It may test ok (battery current checks normal) however, it can still be a few volts shy of what your car needs to run efficiently.
2. No turnover, no start, and no lights
If your car has no signs of life check the battery first!
3. One day it starts normally the next day… no go!
Irregular issues can mean your battery terminals are loose, broken, corroded, or calcified or that you have a parasitic draw (your power is being drained by something that’s on when it’s supposed to be off, or by some wire that’s touching something it shouldn’t)
4. Your headlights/dashlights are dimmer
If you notice your headlights or dashlights starting to dim while driving or your power windows going up more slowly this could mean the battery is not getting charged by the alternator
5. You’ve jumped your battery 3 times in the last week
Jumping a battery with jumper cables is really hard on it so even a new battery can turn into a dud if jumped more than 3 times in a week
Now adays batteries tend to last about 5 years so switch up your battery after about 5 years. It’s just good preventative maintenance!
