The Future of the Toyota Corolla: 2015-16 and Beyond

The Future of the Toyota Corolla: 2015-16 and Beyond

The Corolla is one of the most iconic vehicles in North America to date. You know the name. You see it parked in business districts, beachfronts, roadside diners, trendy neighborhoods and pre-school parking lots alike. The Corolla is every person's automobile.

For decades Toyota has committed to the compact sedan's long standing tradition for affordability, dependability, comfort, and hassle-free performance. However, the most recent generation stepped things up a notch, especially with 2014 seeing a head turning overhaul. By adding a previously untapped level of technology and style Toyota shook the vehicle free from any preconception that it was made solely for the 9 to 5 rush hour grind.

As it stands in 2015 the Toyota Corolla (available in four main trim levels: L, LE, LE Eco and S) is now known as not only affordable and efficient, but as a sporty and fun ride with information-technology that will keep you and your passengers captivated in your seats. Before we dive into what's ahead in 2016, let's take a look at what this year delivers for one of the best selling cars in the world.

Features and Enhancements to the Toyota Corolla in 2015

Length - The 2015 Corolla adds approximately 3 inches of length to the previous model, extending it ever so slightly and allowing the wheelbase to reach further out from the front and rear corners of the vehicle. The result is an even sleeker/sportier feel that enhances the excitement of the 2014 redesign.

Exterior Accents - With a little more room to play with on the exterior Toyota was able to add a few relatively small yet impactful accents to the standard vehicle, such as LED headlamps and new running lights. The 2015 Corolla S models really "pop" as they come with a tail-lifting rear spoiler, a blacked-out front grille, and fog lamps to bookend an air-dam, creating a fairly tough persona - an identifier that has never before been used to describe a Corolla. The LE and LE Eco models also enhance the front end appearance of the base model by adding a front grille with an argent-gray painted insert.

Fresh Interior - The extended proportions of the 2015 Corolla carry over into the interior. With more space there is more room and freedom for new aesthetics. For instance, the dashboard has received a style upgrade as has the new contoured steering wheel. The 2015 interior also adds functional space, with the aforementioned longer wheelbase allowing for more rear leg room. Front seating is no slouch either, with improved adjustability and longer front seat cushions. Sitting in the 2015 Corolla notes a definite improvement over the already successful 2014 version - that says a lot!

Improved Fuel Economy - 2015 Toyota Corolla options (L, LE, LE Eco and S) offer two different 1.8-liter four-cylinder engines, continuing in the evolution of great fuel economy that the Corolla is known for. In addition, the new use of continuously variable transmission (CVT) within the LE, S, and LE Eco has further cemented the vehicle's reputation in fuel efficiency.

Information Technology - The 2015 model added touchscreen technology that is both user-friendly yet satisfying for the tech-savvy drivers on the road. In addition to the pleasant 6.1 inch interface, the updated Corolla includes automatic climate control, a big plus for those seeking additional comfort within an already improved interior. Let's not forget about auto-infotainment either, as the 2015 Corolla hits big with Bluetooth phone connectivity, an updated four-speaker sound system, a USB/iPod interface and an auxiliary audio jack. The LE model adds two more speakers (totaling six!) and also includes Bluetooth audio connectivity, phonebook download capability, voice controls, satellite radio, HD radio, and a navigation system.

Celebrating 50 Years of the Toyota Corolla in 2016

Since 2014/15 marked the first full year of the Corolla's redesign there is no need nor consumer demand for another dramatic overhaul aside from logical enhancements to existing technology and aesthetic tweaks. We welcome you to view this eBrochure for a complete look at the 2016 Corolla which mirrors the improvements discussed above. Canadian consumers can gather regionally specific information here. That being said, it is the Corolla's 50th anniversary and the year cannot pass without a celebration.
