How to Connect Your Toyota to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are integration systems that project your phone’s interface on an in-car display. Apple CarPlay Steps to Connect

If you have an iPhone, you’re going to use Apple CarPlay to connect your phone to your vehicle’s display. 

Connecting with a USB Cable 

  1. Use an Apple-certified USB cable to connect your device to your vehicle. 
  2. Your vehicle’s multimedia system will ask if you want to use CarPlay. Select “Yes.”
  3. A prompt on your phone will ask if you would like to use CarPlay. Select “Yes.” 
  4. Apple CarPlay is now connected.

Connecting Wirelessly 

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your iPhone. 
  2. On the vehicle’s multimedia screen, select “Settings.”
  3. Select “Bluetooth & devices.” 
  4. Press “Add another service.” 
  5. Select “Search for devices.”
  6. Your iPhone will appear on the list of discovered Bluetooth devices. Select your phone. 
  7. Answer the prompts on the multimedia screen to complete the pairing process and select “Yes” when asked if you want to enable CarPlay. 
  8. A prompt on your phone will ask if you would like to use CarPlay. Press “Use.”
  9. Apple CarPlay is now available to use.

Android Auto Steps to Connect

Android Auto is the system that connects your in-vehicle display to an Android device.

Wired Android Auto Connection 

  1. Download the Android Auto app on your device if it isn’t already there. 
  2. Use a manufacturer-certified USB cable to connect your phone to the multimedia system. 
  3. Select “Yes” on the multimedia system when asked to use Android Auto. 
  4. Android Auto is now connected. 

Wireless Connection

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. 
  2. On the multimedia screen, select “Settings.”
  3. Press “Bluetooth & devices.” 
  4. Select “Add another service.” 
  5. Press “Search for devices.”
  6. Select your phone’s name from the list of discoverable devices. 
  7. Follow the instructions on your phone. Select “Yes” when asked if you want to enable Android Auto.  
  8. Android Auto is now available to use.
